Terms of Service

Welcome to BudgetOwl. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use BudgetOwl.

• •You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• •You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• •You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration.
• •You may not share your account with others or allow unauthorized access.
• •We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.

• •Premium features require a paid subscription billed monthly or annually.
• •Free trials provide full access for 14 days without requiring payment information.
• •Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• •You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings.
• •Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis; contact support@budgetowl.ca.

• •Bank connections are powered by Plaid Inc. and MX Technologies (via Quiltt Inc.), third-party service providers.
• •By connecting your bank, you authorize BudgetOwl and its data providers (Plaid, MX) to access your financial account information on your behalf, including account balances, transaction history, and account details.
• •BudgetOwl never stores your bank login credentials. We only store secure access tokens provided by our data providers.
• •Your financial data is accessed and used solely for your benefit — to provide budgeting, tracking, and financial insight features. We do not sell your financial data to third parties or use it for marketing.
• •You may disconnect your bank accounts at any time from the Settings page.
• •Plaid's use of your data is governed by their End User Privacy Policy at plaid.com/legal. MX's use of your data is governed by the MX privacy policy available at mx.com/privacy.

• •You may not use BudgetOwl for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
• •You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or compromise our systems.
• •You may not upload malware, viruses, or malicious content.
• •You may not impersonate others or misrepresent your identity.
• •Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination.

• •BudgetOwl is a financial tracking tool, not a financial advisor.
• •We do not provide investment, tax, or legal advice. Consult a professional for such matters.
• •While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all data is error-free.
• •BudgetOwl is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
• •We are not responsible for decisions made based on information shown in the app.

• •BudgetOwl shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
• •Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months.
• •This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
• •These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.

All content, features, and functionality of BudgetOwl, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, and software, are owned by BudgetOwl Inc. and protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@budgetowl.ca. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service will cease immediately, and your data will be deleted within 30 days pursuant to our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or by posting a notice in the app. Your continued use of BudgetOwl after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
